Tech We Can Champions

Tech We Can Champions are industry volunteers making a real difference by bringing our resources to life to inspire young people about the opportunities a career in tech can offer.

Why become a Champion

Help tackle the technology gender gap
We believe in technology for all. It can help solve many of society’s challenges, but only if a range of voices are included in its development and use. In order to help change the ratio, we need to address the root causes of the technology gender gap - and that begins with education.

Support education
By sharing your experiences, you’ll help to expand young people’s knowledge of all the career options they have available to them - and help bring to life the benefits and opportunities that a career in tech can offer. As a champion, you’ll be a real-life role model to students.

Be part of a positive movement
As well as making a difference to young people in your community, you’ll also become part of a network of like-minded individuals as a Tech We Can Champion and STEM ambassador. This is a great way to use up company volunteering or CSR and personal development days.

What do champions do?

As a Tech We Can Champion, you'll use our educational resources in schools (either in person or virtually) to inspire children about a future career in technology. This is a flexible volunteering opportunity, with many of our champions delivering within working hours or on their lunch break!

Our Tech We Can educational resources are designed for use by everyone, so you don't need any specialist knowledge to be able to deliver the lessons to students.

To become a Tech We Can Champion, you must first register as a STEM Ambassador, and attend Tech We Can training before delivering any content to students (this is a free process and a requirement for all our volunteers). For your benefit, this provides you with:

  • A free DBS check
  • An induction to working with young people
  • Access to a variety of STEM resources
  • Access to a community of like-minded STEM volunteers
