What is WEX Tech Week?

The Virtual Employability Week, hosted by Tech She Can in partnership with National Careers Week, is a free programme available to all Key Stage 3 students. The LIVE online sessions are designed to engage and inspire students aged 11–14, helping bridge the gap between education and employment by providing access to meaningful career experiences.

Why we've created it

Too many young people leave school without the confidence, skills, or awareness of the world of work they need to thrive. For those from less advantaged backgrounds, the gap between education and employment can feel vast and access to meaningful careers experiences is rarely equal. Around 50% of UK state school students miss out on work experience, compared to just 20–30% in private schools. Many schools lack the resources to bridge this gap. We want to change that.

Virtual week overview

The programme spans five days, with each daily session delivered via Teams, lasting 2.5 hours, including independent work and optional afternoon tasks. You/your students can choose whether to attend all of these sessions or a selection that interests them. Each day features interactive elements, including live role models, student challenges and downloadable certificates for participants.

What students will do:

✔ Explore exciting future careers in tech
✔ Hear from inspiring industry role models
✔ Take part in hands-on creative challenges
✔ Build confidence, teamwork and problem-solving skills
✔ Develop all 8 Skills Builder essential skills
✔ Receive certificates for each completed day
